GAME REVIEW | DON’T upset the Llama!!

Grab it first, or get… sprayed!… is the tag line for the new game from Tactic games.

Don’t upset the Llama is a family party game that is a lot of fun to play with the family. To play this game you need quick reflexes; and a towel!

The game is aged 6-99, although we played with our 5-year-old daughter who managed to play the game just fine, and for 2-4 players. The aim of the game is to be faster than everyone else and try to stay dry.

WHATS IN THE BOX?

  • 64 cards
  • one special die
  • Llama spray gun.
  • Instructions

The die controls the game as each player rolls in turn. Depending on what you roll, you then play the cards that determine whether you get sprayed or not.

Much of the game is a free-for-all, where the Llama spray gun is up for grabs. Be the fastest to get the Llama and often you will get to choose who you spray. This can be tactical, or just plain mean!

HERE IS WHAT WE THOUGHT:

We had a lot of fun playing this game, with tension every time the die is rolled as you wait to see if you can grab the gun or not. You do have to be careful because if you grab the gun in error, you become an open target and they get a free spray. The kids were screaming with excitement and fear in equal measures (as were we, the parents).

There are not a lot of parts so there is little risk of losing bits. The only point I would make is that the cards are not water-resistant. This is important as the water can get messy as you fight and spray each other meaning the cards can sometimes get wet. Over time, this could lead to some of them getting damaged.

Don’t upset the Llama costs £15 and is totally worth the price. This is a game the kids will want to play again, and again, and again… especially if they have a score to settle!l
