Elf on the Shelf idea’s

Our Elves are back at the beginning of December for some new naughty Christmas 2017 antics and this year I can’t wait to see what the naughty little tinkers get up too. This year will…

A dog is for life, not just for Christmas

Me and my partner decided we were finished having children, we have 3 altogether and a cat called Phoebe so I had this brilliant idea of getting a dog. To be fair I wanted to look in Woodgreen animal shelter where we got Phoebe from but David said If we were to get a dog it would be best getting one from a puppy because of how young the girls are. I found myself online every night looking for puppies for sale, I was looking at Shitzhu’s and Maltese dogs you know the little cute white fluffy ones that DONT supposedly malt.

We travelled to see a cockapoo puppy but I hate to say it, I just didn’t feel like she was the one so off we went home, however, whilst we were driving David was talking about Labrador’s and instantly I said no they’re too big and just no no no until he told me to google them and he was explaining to me how good they are with children and how easy they are to train. So I had a look and I saw some Labrador puppies for sale advertised in the area we were driving through so I quickly called and asked if we could pop over and have a look. Straight away the man said yes sure he was in now and that he would text me his address instantly, that was a good sign for me in the way that he didn’t try and defer it 30 minutes to you know quickly ‘Clean up’

As we arrived I kept my options open and we were taken through to the Kennels and I was passed the most gorgeous beautiful golden puppy she literally melted my heart and at that moment I didn’t care about the chewing and the size or anything else, all I knew was I had to have her and it was love at first sight. We put our deposit down and the hardest part was having to walk away from her until she was ready to leave the following week. Her name is Duchess Rosie May

Fast forward to now (5 months old) and JEEEEZ what have I let myself in for.

  • She eats her own shit
  • She eats other dogs shit inc rabbits
  • She chews my rug and everything in sight
  • She nips and puts holes in our clothing
  • She eats the cat little and cat food as soon as the door is open
  • She chases the cat and scares the shit out of her
  • She tries to steal food off our plate
  • I have to get up of my ass and take her walkies 3 times a day in the cold
  • Her breath stinks like something else!
  • She has a crazy running fit in and out the garden and jumps all over the sofa with muddy and sometimes shitty paws if she’s run in her poo she has just made.
  • She chews my beautiful rug
  • I get shit in my nails from where the bag breaks outside whilst picking up her crap
  • Training is consistent and time-consuming
  • She takes the kids toys and legs it into the garden
  • Her Farts STINK!!

The Good

  • She looks at me in the most special way
  • When I sit on the floor she will always come and lay in my lap without me prompting her
  • She gives me high fives
  • When I have been out for a little while as I don’t leave her for long she is so excited to see me and I get showered with Kiss’s
  • She has helped my mental health with getting out the house and walking her and talking to people
  • She is keeping me fit
  • I love how when we lay on the sofa she puts her little paw over me
  • I love how dependent she is on me and that I am her mummy
  • When I get up in the morning and come down to let her out she is super happy to see me
  • I love the smell of her ( not when shes rolled in shit)
  • How she stays and leaves her food until I give her the command to Go
  • I just love her so much and even though I moan about her behaviour she is still a baby, my baby and she didn’t choose to live with us, we chose her.

So when it get’s tough just remember that like I have to remember that. I am so used to having a clean home that bringing a dog into the house has really threw me but It is actually really fun and Rosie is so affectionate.

Hungry hippos by Hasbro review

Hasbro’s Hungry Hippos and our review

My Daughter Lyddy received this game for her 5th present of her grandma and we couldn’t wait to start playing, she is now at that age where she is understanding games and rules and really enjoys getting involved.

Setting up

Hungry hippos is easy to assemble, you simply click the hippo’s on the base and you are ready to play.

Object of the game

The object of the game is to eat the most marbles, You all pick what colour Hippo you want to be and when the game starts you keep pressing your launcher until there are no marbles left. There is also a 2nd way to play the game, where there is a single golden marble and whoever eats the golden ball first wins.

The Hippo’s names are:

  •  VEGGIE POTAMUS
  • BOTTOMLESS POTAMUS
  • ,SWEETIE POTAMUS
  • HUNGRY HIPPO

The game is 2-4 players and Age 3+

Hungry hippos come with 19 red marbles,1 golden marble, the base, 4 hippo’s and instructions.

Packing the game away

The hippos simply click off and sit in a certain position on top of the base ( picture on instructions to show how) the marbles are stored in a little round storage pott that is attached underneath the base.

Overview

My family really enjoyed playing this game together and my 2 girls who are 3 and 5 played for a good 10-15minutes together with no fighting and screaming so that is a result its self.

Hungry hippos by Hasbro is currently retailing at £12.99 from most toy stockists and would make an ideal Christmass present.

I will also be adding this to my Christmas gift guide which will be published at the end of November.

I have also added a video of my partner and 2 daughters playing this game and as you can hear there is plenty of fun fun fun.

***This game was a gift of a family member and not sent from Hasbro. This review is of my own only***

Snotcha! Game from Drumond park -Review and giveaway-

Snotcha!

On a Sunday afternoon me and my family like to sit around the dining table with the television off playing games and spending quality time together. I was recently given the opportunity from Drumond park to review this sneeze spraying action game.

Setting up

The game was quick and easy to put together and comes with a spinning dial and instructions, you simply fill the base with water and pop the 2 sides of the nose together onto the base and lock it with the switches so it doesn’t come loose during the game. You will need 2AAA batteries which I couldn’t put in quick enough as my 2 little girls really wanted to play, they love anything to do with nose’s and bogeys especially my little nose picker Milly.

Playtime

We are now sitting around the table and the game is in the middle, the player with the biggest nose goes first but we just let the youngest go first which was Milly. You have to move the nose to face you when it’s your turn. The aim of the game is to stay dry and not get snotted on Ewwww.

This game is really entertaining and I really enjoyed watching the kids wait in suspense to see if they were going to get sneezed on and the laughter I heard when they did! Once you have been sneezed on then you are out of the game and the winner is the last player who has stayed dry.

We really enjoyed this game and it will be coming out regularly on our Sunday games afternoons.

Top tips on how to save for Christmas

As Christmas is approaching fast I wanted to put together a list of top tips on how to save for Christmas.

  • Set up a standing order into another one of your bank accounts weekly/monthly and Don’t touch it.
  • Look for bargains throughout the year.
  • I like to go window shopping first and take photo’s of everything I want to buy the children and then go home and google to find where is the cheapest.
  • Have a look at what you don’t use anymore and do car boot sales.
  • Save your points i.e Tesco, boots and use them towards gifts and treats.
  • Asda does a saving’s card which you can add money to at any time and then use it at Christmas.
  • Symths toy shop also do a savings card where you can add money to each month
  •  Toys R us do a layaway scheme where you can go shopping for what you want and pay a 10% deposit there and then and then instalments.  (Although I find this shop quite expensive for some toys)
  • Park offers a saving scheme too, my mum has saved with park this year.
  • If you are going to use a credit card, use a 0% on new purchases card so you don’t pay any interest.
  • Have a look on facebook selling sites or eBay for unwanted gifts that might appeal to you.
  • Pick up one Christmas food treat a week.
  • Have a look online for discount codes.
  • Check out reviews first online to avoid disappointment.
  • Write a list and stick to it.
  • Look for outlet shops.
  • Try and handmake some gifts.
  • Search promotions online when browsing.
  • Buy your Christmas crackers and cards just after Christmas, you save £££
